With the camper through Austria

Austria is known for its rugged and mountainous area, so watch out! In general, semi-integrated motorhomes are the easiest motorhomes for mountain journeys, but with a large alcove it should also work. Below the tips, so that you keep your head cool.

• Of course, you don't get a camper to the top as quickly as a regular passenger car. As a first piece of advice, it is important to stay calm. If necessary, stop every now and then to let the passenger cars go in front of you.
• Another useful tip is to drive outside rush hour. This way you keep the peace and you do not just end up in traffic jams.
• If you go up, put the engine in a low gear. If you find yourself losing too much traction, downshift to a lower gear.
• Keep a close eye on the temperature. Prevent it from entering the red zone.
• Do not drive down the mountain with too much speed. Also put the camper in a low gear. You obviously want to conserve your brakes as much as possible, so it's best to slow down on the engine. If you must brake, brake quickly and firmly.
• As you approach a bend, slow down in time and downshift. For hairpin bends, you turn wide in and tight out.
• Anticipate well. Make sure you have space, make sure that you have to pass an oncoming vehicle in a bend. Stop a bit before the bend, if necessary, so that you do not get stuck.
