A journey through Brittany

The French Brittany is a history-packed region with a lot to experience. You can enjoy the beach, nature and not to forget the French culture. Brittany is the easternmost part of France. The Brittany camper route runs right through Normandy. It is therefore common for a Brittany camper route to be combined with a route through Normandy. It is a beautiful area to drive through with a camper, you can feast your eyes for hours on the road!

With the camper through Brittany

The Brittany camper route therefore logically runs through Normandy. The fastest route takes you about 920 kilometers, the journey takes about nine to ten hours. Once you have arrived in Brittany, you don't have to travel long distances, as the cities are fairly close to each other. During the camper trip Brittany you must take into account the camper rules that apply in France. You can find these below on the NKC site.

Places of interest in Brittany

There is plenty to see in Brittany. There is much to discover in the field of nature and culture. Below we have a list of the must-see places!

Nature Brittany

Do you want to enjoy the tranquility that nature has to offer? Brittany has many special areas that you cannot miss during your camper trip. So it is really worth the effort Côte de Granit Rose to visit. As the name suggests, it is a pink-colored coastal town. Hardened magma that solidified centuries ago created beautiful rocks with a special color.

The town is located south of the Côte de Granit Rose Carnac. Many prehistoric monuments can be viewed in Carnac. An example are the Carnac menhirs. These are estimated to have been placed in prehistoric times and are still there to this day. The impressive stones can be admired up close during certain times of the year, namely from October to March. In the other seasons they can be admired from a distance.

Another must is the island Ile de Bréhat, also called flower island. You can just leave the camper on the mainland for a while. There are few or no motorized vehicles to be found on this island; everything can be reached on foot or by bike. It is good to take into account the seasons, spring or summer is the excellent time because the flowers are then in bloom.

Culture Brittany

You cannot miss cultural excursions during your Brittany camper route. There is plenty to do. Firstly the must to go to town Dinan to go. In this city you suddenly find yourself in the Middle Ages. Many historic buildings have been preserved and restored, creating a unique image.

Dinan is a very beautiful city, however Quimper can really call itself the cultural capital of Brittany. Here you can stroll through the streets at your leisure and enjoy the beautiful buildings and small boutiques. Art and history come together in this city. It is best to visit this city in July, when there is the Breton music festival Cornouaille. Here singers, female singers and buskers come together. This is where you can really taste the culture of Brittany.

A nice contrast to Dinan is the city Rennes. Rennes is a vibrant student city where there is always something to do. This city looks a lot more modern, although you will also encounter some Romanesque architecture here and there.

Do you also want to enjoy the culinary delights during the Brittany camper route? Then go to Cancale. This is the oyster capital of the region. The place for gourmets!
