B driving license or a supplementary driving license?

We have our own campers for 2 to 6 people. These can all be controlled with one B license (car driver's license). As a result, you are in principle not obliged to take a course or obtain an extra driving licence. Yet, with only a B driving license, you are not quite there yet. The necessary driving experience is also a prerequisite. As a driver of compact campers occasions you must be at least 25 years old and have held your B driving license for at least 5 years.

Mass and number of persons

Which driver's license you need for a motorhome depends on the maximum permitted mass of the camper. This limit is 3.500 kg. Almost all of our motorhomes fall under the mass of 3.500 kg, but as soon as a motorhome exceeds this limit, you must have another driver's license. This driving licence, also known as a 'large driving licence', falls into the C category. If the camper is between 3.500 kg and 7.500 kg, a C1 driver's license already enough. For example, you need this driver's license for our Family Plus Double Beds. Do you exceed a mass of 7.500 kg? Then you have to get a C driving license.

In addition, the type of driver's license for a motorhome depends on it number of persons that you will be transporting. With a C1 driving license you remain within the limit of 6 people, but with a C driving license this will change. If you are in possession of a large driver's license, you can take 8 people with you. Do you want to take more than 8 people on a trip? Then a D driving license is required, also known as a bus driving license. However, a camper with more than 8 places is rare.

Safe on the road

Which driver's license do you need for a motorhome at Camperhuren.nl? With us you must indicate prior to your motorhome trip who the drivers will be during the trip. You cannot deviate from this during the trip. Before the trip, you as a driver must follow all instructions given by us. In addition, it goes without saying that you must drive carefully and safely. It is absolutely not allowed to drive faster than the maximum allowed speed.
