2.Versailles

Once you reach the coast, make a stop at the beach. This kilometre-long beach borders the dunes and Camargue (a short distance from Montpellier). Montpellier is a lively student city with old winding streets. Here you will also find the Place de la Comedie, which is one of the most beautiful squares during a camper trip Europe. The Cathedrale Saint-Pierre is definitely worth a visit!
6. Saint Tropez
Get to know the famous port of Saint-Tropez. This place is full of luxury yachts from stars all over the world. Still, this place is more than just a place where everything is (prohibitively) expensive. Keep in mind that it is extremely difficult to park your motorhome near the center. That is why we also recommend using bicycles or public transport here.
7. Frejus
Here you can relax on the coast. During the day, relax on the beach and then enjoy a delicious lunch with a drink and a view of the sea. During the evening you can still stroll around at various stalls on the night market. Ideal to score a souvenir for friends and family!
8. Clermont Ferrand
The camper trip is (unfortunately) almost over. But before that, you will spend two more days in Clermont-Ferrand. This large city is located in the Puy-de-Dôme department. And this is also a well-known stopover when you go to France by camper. The student city is bursting with many cafes, restaurants and shops.
9. Montelimar
Travel on to the bustling town in the Drôme Provençale. Here you will not only find the delicious nougat, but also the beautiful Chateau des Adhemar. Ideal to spend a day and enjoy a visit to the pleasant city. Almonds and honey can also be found here, which are grown in the area.
10. Pilat Natural Regional Park
This place is ideal to transport with compact campers occasions while optimally discovering the area at the same time. In summer this is also the perfect opportunity to relax from the mass tourism. This vast landscape has plenty of variety due to hills with vineyards and forests with beautiful views over the river Rhône.
11. Gorges du Verdon
Leave the coast behind to continue the course inland. Here you will find one of the largest gorges in Europe: Gorges du Verdon. With rock walls of several hundred meters high that protrude above the river with azure water, this is definitely worth a visit. The winding water over the bottom of the river is the guideline for beautiful hiking trails that lead you further through nature. The hikes are also rewarded with fantastic views. Tip: come before noon, then the blue water is at its best!
