Safe in the camper

The regulations for transporting a dog in a camper differ per country. In the Netherlands, the dog does not have to be stuck in the camper. We recommend that you always tie up the dog while driving. You can place the dog on a rug or basket on the floor of the camper with a designated area long line on the belt fasten.

For an overview of the rules per country, we refer you to the website woefwelkom.nl or visit the website of the National Information Center for Companion Animals (LICG). Here you will also find information about mandatory vaccinations abroad.

In Germany, for example, you can take your dog on public transport for half the fare. At least, if you keep it on a leash and ensure that other passengers are not inconvenienced. In the metro, your dog travels on a child ticket.

Germans are almost everywhere okay with taking your dog to a restaurant. Of course, your dog must behave calmly and be on a leash in a restaurant.

Denmark has more than 560 dog parks, the so-called hundeskoven, where you can let your dog run free. There are several paths through the area and you will find various trees and shrubs here. Your dog can play freely and safely here. The dog parks are freely accessible all year round.

Products for on the road and camping

Have you thought about what to take with you for the dog when you travel in a camper? Of course his own food, basket and toys. To make your trip with your dog even more comfortable, we give you a number of tips.

  • Make sure the journey is safe for the dog and that he feels safe too. Therefore, think about how you are going to take your dog with you. You can use, for example, a seat belt.
  • Do you want to enjoy the sun without having to constantly keep an eye on the dog? Then take a long leash with you and fasten it a pen. This gives your pet enough space to move and cannot run away.
  • Make sure that your dog can always lie down in the shade at your camping spot. You can take this into account when booking. You could ask the campsite if they have a place for you with shade, or you can also create it yourself using a parasol or a tent.
  • Check whether the water from the tap is drinkable. If it is not drinking water, it is best to get bottled water from the store and fill your dog's water bowl with it. In warm weather, make sure that the drinking bowl is always filled and easily accessible to the dog. Always take a foldable dog bowl with you when you go out. Simple and indispensable.
  • In warm temperatures you can give your dog a helping hand with special dogs cooling mat to offer. This mat is filled with gel and therefore feels nice and cool. The mat has a cooling effect without the use of a refrigerator, so it is always ready for use. The mat heats up slowly when your pet lies on it, and as soon as your dog leaves it, the mat automatically becomes cool again. Who knows, you might also like a mat like this on hot days.
  • A dog run offers a safe and comfortable place for your dog next to the camper. The dog run is easy to fold and unfold and, thanks to the handy carrying bag, easy to store in the camper.
